365c 12, A Cross A Day. Paint "chip" with leave shapes added.

Still following the theme of the Season after Epiphany, i want to give you more information on this wonderful and rich season.  The color of the Season after Epiphany, is green, if you did not already know.  The most common symbol of the season is a shell.  Why a Shell?  The shell was used in New Testament time to scoop the water and pour upon the head of the baptized.  Many churches schedule as many baptisms in Epiphany (The second most popular season for baptism.  Easter being the first.) emphasizing the gift to the whole world in the joining another person to the body of Christ.  Of course there is the thought that the Wisemen (which has in itself lots of theology) appeared later then the birth itself and is often part of the stories told in the Season of Epiphany.  Consequently, their gifts of frankincense, myrrh, and gold are considered symbols of the Season after Epiphany.

May you cross a creative inkling or epiphany today.

LFS, liz
