365c 74 A Cross a Day, Russian Orthodox

Today's cross is a Russian Orthodox style.  The interior coloring is my choosing nothing toward the outward shape of the style.  The Russian Orthodox cross is from the Roman Empire several hundred years after the death of Christ and it was divided.  The eastern half became known as the Byzantium.  The diagonal beam has three alleged meanings:  A) represents the robber crucified on the right side of Christ and ascended to heaven;  B) is a symbol of St. Andrew a major Russian saint who was crucified on a diagonal cross;  C) the titled rung is a footrest and the top beam represents a name plate.  (*Information taken from Cross of Many Cultures by Joyce Mori)

May you cross a creative inkling today.

LFS, liz
