Steve Jobs is a well written and honest biography that does not provide flowery overtones to excuse his bad behavior. The book while sharing the life of Jobs, shows the history of the personal computer and other technologies. The idea of CEO is challenged and expanded by the methods, such as narrow it down to five products, used by Jobs at Apple and Pixar. Jobs was very black and white. He thought you create all products well and pay attention to details. Jobs lived the one side of the philosophy in the computer world of keeping a closed, controlled, and managed system from hardware to software, while the other side believes in open sharing of systems which has allowed for numerous companies creating software and hardware in what we now refer to as Window PCs. i learned that Jobs was as full of creativity as he was bad behavior.
If you want to have insight into what has built the Apple brand, read this book. If you want to learn good skills and those traits to avoid in business then read this book. If you are interested in the history of personal computing this is a must read. If you want insight to how Jobs changed the music and movie worlds this is a book to read (however, if you want insight into the iphone and its' impact this book has been published in a time that allows little reflection on this topic).
This book is recommended.
