Bullying has become more and more prevalent and has been fed like a wildfire with the advent of technology. As horrible as bullying was in the days prior to computer and smartphones, bullying has gone over the top. There is 24 hours, 7 days a week, and 365 days of the year exposure now to the words and actions of bullies. As horrible as this sounds, bullying now includes pictures from school lockerrooms, bathrooms, or any other place one is known to change clothes.
There has been a business person i learned of that has taken a stand, no bullying zone or in her language "I will not photograph ugly people". Each of us should take a stand. The jest is the photographer refused to take the Senior shots of four young women who wrote ugly things about another on their Facebook page. You can read the full article here.
As a side note, i would suggest parents to read their children's Facebook pages, more then a local photographer will read that as a source to information for college admissions and/or job application(s).
Outside of the parental warning above, i want to warn us all: we need to create a 'no bullying zone'. Take it from one person that bullying is not limited to the school age child, it takes place in the workplace. The average employee could face a bully in a colleague or in a "customer" of that environment. Bullying can be physical or verbal it can attack us mentally, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. Verbal attacks are not any less damaging then being punched. We wouldn't let a racist joke be stated,; we need to address bullying behavior in the same manner.
