365c 31 (Originally #3 on 15 May 2012), A Salt Dragonfly cross

The third cross is a Dragonfly Cross, made out of salt.  There is something there spiritually.  The Dragonfly Cross goes back to the times when the priests and conquering Spaniards brought the cross with them to the Americas'.  Native Americans were already familiar with the cross symbol.  However, they looked at the double-bar cross as a representative of the dragonfly, which they thought brought summer rains and the life to people.  As time passed the Pueblo and Navajo silversmiths made their own crosses with a heart shape at the end.  Men wore them in ceremonies and women in everyday wear.  These crosses were prized possessions and considered to be of great value.

May you cross a creative inkling today.

LFS, liz
