Liz's List I: Original Screenplays

i must admit i have become a bit fascinated in learning that some movies i have watched, and often those i would be willing to watch again and again, really came from books.  Some of these movies have the exact same name like Brewster's Million, but are drastically different, as i am learning from now reading the book.  i have always listed and had Roger Rabbit as a favorite and was shocked to learn that Roger Rabbit was written about first in a book, which i will be reading soon.  But the title of this post is Original Screenplays, i must tilt toward the other side of movie scripts.

i utilized the infamous Wikipedia site for a reference on the Academy Award for Best Writing (Original Screenplay) to gather some information about the Original Screenplay.  Some stats:

*  Since 1970, the Academy has listed 5 movies per year in this category.  That means there are at least 200 movies over 40 years that could be considered noteworthy each year.
*  i have seen 56 of the 200 movies listed which can be stated as i have seen at this writing a little over the 1/4th of the list.  Of the 56 movies, 6 are animated movies, which 3 are on my favorite lists. for Original Screenplays.
*  On a future list, Movies everyone should see and why, there are 4 on this Original Screenplay List.
